In the first instalment of our diary keeping you across Chelsea Women’s pre-season tour in New Zealand and Australia, we bring you news of the squad touching down in Auckland.
Sonia Bompaster and her squad began their journey across the world in London on Sunday evening. Following stopovers in Singapore and then Sydney, they touched down in Auckland shortly after 2pm local time on Tuesday. The trip lasted just under 30 hours in all.
After checking into the team hotel in what is the biggest city in New Zealand’s northern island, the players stretched their legs in sunny, if chilly, conditions. Highs of about 14 degrees Celsius were recorded on Tuesday. It felt like a long way from London, in more ways than one!
It was then back to the team hotel for dinner and an early night as the travelling party adjusted to the time difference. Auckland is 11 hours ahead of the UK.
