An old friend, a former colleague at Brighton and Hove Albion and now, following his switch to Chelsea, someone to share the dressing room with.
That is, of course, Danny Welbeck. The striker completed a move from the Seagulls on Friday and has jetted out to Hong Kong to join the rest of the squad.
Caicedo played with Welbeck at the Amex Stadium and knows what qualities the former England international will bring. And given his glowing character reference, the 24-year-old is certainly excited to link up with him again.
‘I’m so happy he’s [Welbeck] signed,’ Caicedo told the media at a press conference in Hong Kong, with a huge smile.
‘When he arrived here, I gave him a hug because I was so happy when he signed. He is going to be so important for us and I’m looking forward to playing with him again.
‘As a player and as a person, Danny is top. He helped me a lot when I arrived at Brighton. He was so important for me and to have him here at Chelsea, it feels good.
‘I am so happy to have him here and he is going to help us a lot for sure. With his mentality, he has everything and he is going to be so important for us.’
The addition of Welbeck was quickly followed by the news that Jordan Henderson had joined the Blues too, arriving from Brentford to further bolster the squad with Premier League and international experience.
Caicedo is equally pleased to see Henderson, a Premier League winner, join the ranks too.
‘I’m so happy to have them [Henderson and Welbeck] at the club because it’s going to help the younger players with their experience,’ Caicedo added.
‘As I said earlier, I am so happy and for sure we are going to achieve a lot of things together.’
