Chelsea agree deal to sign 28yo Spanish star
Chavarria to Chelsea
Chelsea have finally reached an agreement with Rayo Vallecano for the transfer of left-back Pep Chavarria.
The Blues have sought to land the Spaniard after parting ways with Marc Cucurella earlier this summer. After weeks of negotiations, they have finally convinced Rayo to sanction his sale.
The 28-year-old has also agreed terms with the west London giants and he is expected to travel to the English capital for his medical in the next 24 hours.
Chelsea have changed their transfer policy under new manager Xabi Alonso this summer and have brought in a couple of experienced league faces.
Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson were signed from Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford. The latter arrived on a free transfer agreement.
Chavarria may not be Premier League-proven but he will likewise add more experience to a young squad, which has struggled in recent years.
Chelsea will be aiming to challenge for the league title under Alonso, having backed him with some quality signings in the transfer window.
