Liverpool attacker attracting significant interest after strong pre-season
Liverpool’s attack is their biggest spot of bother currently.
With Mohamed Salah having departed and Hugo Ekitike injured, the Reds are already short-staffed up front.
Additionally, Cody Gakpo continues to be linked with Tottenham and Federico Chiesa has never really set the world alight at Anfield, while Rio Ngumoha is still a teenager and can’t be expected to carry the burden of the attack.
A handful of youngsters have impressed in pre-season and could be given a chance to remain in the first team.
As for Lewis Koumas, however, his immediate future could lie away from Anfield.
Lewis Koumas linked with Liverpool departure
Koumas has notched up one goal in pre-season so far and has fared quite well, as has Kieran Morrison.
According to the Liverpool Echo‘s Ian Doyle, the Welshman is attracting significant interest on loan and permanent deals and could well move on before the transfer deadline.
“Of the more established Academy names, Lewis Koumas scored in the win over Sunderland and impressed in general during the tour,” wrote Doyle.
🏴 Given the way he presses, I do think there may be room for Lewis Koumas to stay at Liverpool for the next 6-12 months.
He's definitely suited to Andoni Iraola's style.
Could play a similar role to Takumi Minamino.

“The 20-year-old helped Hull City to promotion when on loan last season, and is expected to attract significant interest towards the transfer deadline with Liverpool anticipating both temporary and permanent move offers.
“Indeed, Koumas was poised to link up with Wales boss Craig Bellamy at Burnley until the prospective switch to Turf Moor fell through for the ex-Liverpool striker.”
Koumas has shown flashes of brilliance, but it would be the best solution for all parties involved if he goes out on loan. If an irresistible bid comes in, the Reds may even be tempted to sell.
