**A handful of youngsters and fringe players have been given opportunities in pre-season by new Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola.**
The likes of Ifeanyi Ndukwe, Mor Talla Ndiaye, Lewis Koumas and Kieran Morrison have endeared themselves to the new gaffer, while Trey Nyoni has proved that he is ready to start games for Liverpool.
Now, with the Premier League season opener less than three weeks away, many of these young players will either go out on loan or return to the U-21s.
For Harvey Davies, however, that will not be the case as he is set to sign a contract extension.
Young goalkeeper Harvey Davies is yet to make his senior debut for the club and played just 14 minutes across three pre-season games.
Liverpool have Alisson Becker and Giorgi Mamardashvili as their main goalkeepers, while Freddie Woodman is set to deputise for the pair.
Having another goalkeeper in the senior squad isn’t really needed, but last season, we almost saw a situation where each of the aforementioned players was injured.

The 22-year-old was on loan at Crawley Town for the first half of last season but was recalled in January, although he didn’t play a single minute.
Davies signed a contract extension last year before moving on loan. Liverpool are set to repeat their trick with him this time around, except he will remain at Anfield and train with the first team.
