Liverpool make contact to sign 18-year-old PSG star

Liverpool’s preparations for the 2026/27 season are gathering pace after returning from their US tour and moving into the next phase of pre-season.

Victories over Wrexham and Sunderland were followed by a disappointing defeat to Leeds, giving Andoni Iraola valuable insight into a squad made up of senior players and academy prospects.

Liverpool will now face AS Monaco and Como in their final pre-season fixtures before the Premier League campaign begins.

Ahead of the new season, the Reds are hoping to complete further deals, having so far added only Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz to the squad.

Liverpool have identified Ibrahim Mbaye as a potential target. According to RMC Sport, discussions between the Reds and Paris Saint-Germain are expected to begin as the club look to reach an agreement over the Senegalese winger’s future.

Alongside their interest in Mbaye, Liverpool continue to monitor PSG forward Bradley Barcola. Mbaye’s time at PSG could be coming to an end, with the 18-year-old reportedly available for a transfer.

Several top clubs have expressed interest in the young attacker, but Liverpool are said to be among the most serious suitors.

Liverpool have stepped up their interest in Mbaye as they look to strengthen their attack following Mohamed Salah’s departure.

The Reds are targeting options on the right flank, with Federico Chiesa’s future uncertain and young Kieran Morrison being monitored during pre-season.

Mbaye has impressed Liverpool’s recruitment team with his creativity, ability to break lines and confidence in one-on-one situations despite his age.

The Senegal international is believed to be open to a move to Anfield, with talks between Liverpool and PSG expected to begin. However, the French club are demanding more than €40million for the highly rated youngster, who still has two years remaining on his contract.

Meanwhile, Liverpool continue to monitor Bradley Barcola. Negotiations with PSG remain difficult, with the Ligue 1 champions valuing the winger at over €150million, while the Reds are reluctant to overspend. A compromise will be needed for a deal to be completed.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has also revealed that Liverpool have made contact with Mbaye’s new agent, Jorge Mendes, as they explore a potential move for the Paris Saint-Germain winger.

Romano posted on X: “Liverpool have made contact with Ibrahima Mbaye’s new agent Jorge Mendes. Mbaye also has proposals from Bundesliga clubs — giving priority to #LFC project. Deal was close with Leipzig but collapsed after Diomande-PSG off.”
