Bruno Guimaraes is waiting for the final green light to fly in for an Arsenal medical, while Vinicius Jr's uncertain contract situation has given the club optimism of signing him. The Real Madrid star and Newcastle United captain are the Gunners' two priority targets with it entirely possible that both join for the 2026/27 season and beyond.

Three permanent signings have already been completed with Piero Hincapie joining on a long-term contract after his loan last season while Illan Meslier and Christos Tzolis have also arrived.

In comparison to other Premier League clubs, Arsenal are yet to do any marquee business but that could change over the next few weeks. The Guimaraes saga finally looks set for a conclusion while a definitive answer on Vinicius Jr's future is set to arrive later this week.

Despite the significant funds required for those two deals, Andrea Berta could yet target another important signing in an area currently impacted by injuries. With all of that being said, football.london has rounded up the latest Arsenal transfer rumours and provided a fresh take on them.

Guimaraes green light

Arsenal and Newcastle have not finalised the Bruno Guimaraes deal just yet but a total agreement is nearing, as per The Athletic.

Both parties are expecting the deal to be wrapped up soon with there a clear desire for it to be resolved soon. The midfielder arrived in Spain on Monday after taking a commercial flight from Brazil and according to Fabrizio Romano, Guimaraes is already waiting to get on another plane.

He has claimed that the Brazilian is awaiting a final call for permission to travel for a medical at Arsenal with direct contact to formalise the finer details ongoing.

football.london says: Finally, after countless briefs and talks through intermediaries, Guimaraes is set to join Arsenal.

With so much said about the prolonging of this saga, his age and the fee, it has largely been overlooked just how good a signing this is. In a struggling Newcastle team - and mostly from a deeper midfield position - he managed 17 goal contributions in all competitions while also missing a few months through injury

Arteta is undoubtedly going to love Guimaraes as he is the perfect player for this Arsenal team. It is also an immediate improvement on the midfield options currently at his disposal with it almost a certainty he plays a big role during the first few weeks of the season.

Arsenal 'growing in confidence' over Vinicius Jr transfer

Real Madrid have barely let up with reminders that Vinicius Jr has returned for pre-season training and yet Arsenal's confidence is only growing over a potential transfer.

That is because, as per ESPN, even with their latest contract proposal of €22m (£18.9m) getting closer to his demands, it is still some way off as he wants €30m (£25.7m)

A meeting is due to take place between both parties on Wednesday and things may become a little clearer after that.

football.london says: With Real Madrid open to selling under certain circumstance, the biggest challenge Arsenal seemingly face is convincing Vinicius Jr of the move but giving him the salary he wants could certainly do the trick.

It is perhaps therefore no surprise that the Gunners are increasingly optimistic of sealing this transfer considering the financial sacrifice they are willing to make which Real are not.

Ultimately, a resolution could yet be found in that all-important meeting but €8m (£6.8m) is a sizeable amount to be short by and that hands Arsenal a clear advantage.

Next transfer after Vini Jr and Guimaraes

Even if the above marquee transfers are sealed, Arsenal could still be busy in the closing weeks of the window with Fabrizio Romano reporting that a centre-back could be pursued.

With William Saliba expected to miss the first half of the season, while Jurrien Timber and Ben White are fitness concerns, a number of versatile defenders have been linked with Aston Villa's Ezri Konsa appearing as the top choice.

football.london says: Arsenal will ultimately have to see how much is remaining in their transfer budget for a defender if all goes to plan.

They could yet be forced to make a signing, though, particularly if Cristhian Mosquera, who is expected to replace Saliba, picks up an injury of his own.

The closer we get to the end of the summer window, the more expensive Konsa will likely be as Villa will have less time to find a suitable replacement. It is certainly not a priority deal as things stand but it could become as such later this month.
