Tottenham-linked Barcelona forward opens up on his future after winning the 2026 World Cup.
Tottenham Hotspur have already been linked with a whole host of players this summer. The club’s hierarchy have done well to add six players to Roberto De Zerbi’s squad in the first half of the transfer window. Now, Roberto De Zerbi is focusing on improving the attacking unit.
Spurs are one of the most well-known teams in the world, so the fact that they finished 17th in the Premier League last season is just unacceptable. The lack of creativity and goals was one of the prime reasons for Tottenham’s struggles last season.
De Zerbi recently revealed that he was expecting a “transfer bomba”, hinting that the North Londoners were closing in on a blockbuster deal for an attacking player ahead of the new season. Since then, Spurs have been linked with several players, including Barcelona’s Ferran Torres.
Ferran Torres opens up on his future at Barcelona
Ferran Torres enjoyed the moment of his career in July, scoring the winner in the 2026 World Cup final. Spain beat Argentina 1-0 in that game, with the 26-year-old’s goal coming minutes into the second half of extra time. By doing so, he etched his name in Spanish football folklore.
Torres is now expected to return to Barcelona’s training soon, joining the pre-season camp, but his future is far from certain. With less than 12 months left on his current deal, there has been intense speculation surrounding his future. Paris Saint-Germain are showing interest in signing the 2026 World Cup winner, although Barcelona are looking to extend his stay.
Speaking to NBC about his future (h/t Fabrizio Romano on X), Torres refused to rule out a potential exit, saying: “PSG interest? Being wanted by these teams is good.
“I have a contract with Barcelona. It’s true that in football you never know what might happen, but since I have a contract, I can wait and decide on my own.”

The Spanish forward is clearly giving the impression that he’s thinking about PSG. The former Manchester City man perhaps feels undervalued at Barcelona, despite netting 21 goals across all competitions last season. Blaugrana’s stance is that the 26-year-old is not for sale unless he asks to leave, but following Torres’ recent interview, things could very much change.
From Tottenham’s perspective, a player of Torres’ quality, versatility, experience and winning mentality would hugely enhance De Zerbi’s squad. To beat PSG to his signature, though, the Hotspur Way chiefs will need to come up with a tempting offer and project.
