Egypt and Liverpool legend Salah set to lead Trabzonspor attack alongside Onuachu
Trabzonspor are closing in on the signing of Liverpool and Egypt legend Mohamed Salah.
If the deal goes through as expected, the veteran forward will spearhead Trabzonspor's attack alongside Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu next season.
In a statement, Trabzonspor confirmed that the club has opened negotiations to sign the two-time African Footballer of the Year, who is scheduled to arrive at Istanbul Airport on Wednesday.
Salah, who is currently a free agent, is expected to sign a two-year contract with the Turkish club.
At Trabzonspor, he is set to link up with several African players, including Nigeria internationals Chibuike Nwaiwu and Paul Onuachu, Cape Verde duo Sidny Lopes Cabral and Wagner Pina, and Cameroonian goalkeeper André Onana.
However, the two Super Eagles players continue to be linked with moves away from Trabzonspor despite featuring prominently in the club's pre-season preparations and friendly matches.
Trabzonspor have reportedly moved for Salah to ease the goalscoring burden on Onuachu, who accounted for 36 percent of the club's Super Lig goals last season.
The FC Ebedei product enjoyed a breakthrough 2025-26 campaign, finishing as the league's joint top scorer alongside İstanbul Başakşehir's Eldor Shomurodov.
However, he is yet to open his account in pre-season after three games.
