Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah looks set to sign for Turkish club Trabzonspor after departing the Premier League giants following nine years in England.
Salah has been a free agent since ending his chapter at Anfield and has been linked with a range of clubs, while representing Egypt at the World Cup, where they reached the Round of 16 after knocking the Socceroos out on penalties.
Trabzonspor appears to have won the race to sign him, following interest from local rivals Besiktas as well as a range of sides in the MLS.
The club put out a statement on its official channels overnight confirming that ‘negotiations have begun regarding the transfer of professional footballer Mohamed Salah to our Club.’
An hour later, they announced that Salah will be arriving at Istanbul airport on Wednesday, with the winger also scheduled to land in Trabzon later that evening adding that details will be shared with the public regarding the club’s ‘welcome plan’ during the day.

Multiple reports suggest that the 34-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the Turkish Super Lig side, with Plase Sporcom journalist Çınar Yücekurt reporting a breakdown of what the former Liverpool star will earn in Turkey.
According to that report, Salah will earn €23 million (A$37.7m) annually, as well as another €20 million (A$33m) in ‘additional costs’. He will also take a 100% share of jerseys sold outside of Turkey as well as 25% of jersey sales domestically.

Trabzonspor finished third in Turkey’s top flight last season, behind champions Galatasaray and Fenerbahce.
Salah will become by far the biggest name on their books, with other notable players including Turkish internationals Okay Yokuslu and Ozan Tufan, as well as former Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana, former Manchester City defender Stefan Savic, former Roma midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi and World Cup star Sidny Lopes Cabral.
