Pompey have been told what they’re getting if they were to complete the signing of Chelsea youngster Ryan Kavuma-McQueen this summer.
John Mousinho’s men are said to be close to sealing the highly-rated 17-year-old’s signature, with reports suggesting the winger is in advanced talks over a switch to Fratton Park.
It is believed the young forward will pen a season-long loan deal on the south coast, representing his first career exit away from Stamford Bridge.

Pompey in ‘advanced talks’ to sign Chelsea winger
Despite his age, Kavuma-McQueen enjoyed an outstanding campaign in Chelsea’s youth set-up last term, having been fast-tracked to the club’s U21’s side.
This saw the England youth international net 13 goals and collect four assists in all competitions and was subsequently rewarded with his senior debut against Port Vale in a 7-0 FA Cup triumph.
Pompey are, of course, in the market for new additions out wide after their goalscoring struggles in the Championship last season.
This has seen the likes of Kavuma-McQueen linked alongside former Fratton favourite Abu Kamara, who is on the Blues’ shopping list this summer.
Speaking in Monday’s fans’ forum, Mousinho made it clear his side are looking to recruit wingers who can play outside opposition shapes, get in behind defences and put dangerous balls into the box, while also remaining a goalscoring threat.

And that is something the Chelsea youngster has identified as some of his biggest strengths as he looks to make his mark on the first-team stage.
Speaking about his standout attributes on the club’s official website in 2025, the young winger said: 'I would say one of my biggest strengths is being a direct winger.
‘I love getting on the ball, taking players on, and making things happen in the final third. Whether it’s creating chances or scoring goals, I always want to be involved and make an impact.
'This season has already been a positive one for me; I feel like I’ve started to grow a lot as a player. I’m becoming more confident every time I step on the pitch.
‘I enjoy using my speed to beat defenders and drive forward. I think that’s something that really sets me apart.
'I also enjoy the physical side of the game. I’m not afraid to go into tackles and work hard off the ball. Giving my all and competing physically is something I take pride in. I would say it’s one of the parts of football I enjoy the most.
'Right now, I’m focused on improving every part of my game. There’s not just one area; I want to keep developing all-round, both technically and tactically.
'Being around the Under-21s and some of the older players has already helped me a lot. The way they train and the intensity they play with pushes you to step up. It’s been a great experience so far and I’m learning every day.
'As a winger, I want to keep contributing with goals and assists, but I also want to be someone who works hard for the team at both ends of the pitch. I’m working on improving my decision-making, my end product and my overall understanding of the game.'
