Latest transfer news and rumours
Arsenal are growing in optimism over signing Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Junior, with a crucial meeting scheduled for today
That is according to ESPN, who report that Real Madrid and Vinicius Jr’s representatives will sit down to discuss the Brazilian’s contract renewal. It’s D-Day for Vini.
While Vinicius continues to seek a salary close to €30m per season, it’s understood that Los Blancos will remain firm on its latest offer of €22 million annually as they have no plans to increase it.
As such, the report also states that the situation has resulted in Arsenal's confidence is growing over a deal for the 26-year-old, with the transfer fee expected to be around €150m (£128m).
If the Gunners were to pull off this blockbuster deal, Vinicius Jr would become the club’s record signing, eclipsing the £105m paid to West Ham for Declan Rice in the summer of 2023.
Furthermore, the Brazil international would become the most expensive player in Premier League history by £3m as Liverpool splashed £125m on Alexander Isak from Newcastle last summer.
Arsenal have agreed a £75million deal with Newcastle for Bruno Guimaraes, with the full fee due up front, with no further add-ons.
That’s according to the Newcastle Chronicle, who report that Guimaraes joined Newcastle’s training camp in Spain on Monday and held discussions with club officials and new head coach Matthias Jaissle where he reiterated his desire to leave.
That saw negotiations between the clubs moving towards a final agreement.
Newcastle are said to be happy with the deal, which represents a significant profit on the £38m they paid Lyon in 2022 for the player.
Liverpool pushing for Mbaye transfer
Liverpool are now pushing to sign Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
That is according to a report from Fabrice Hawkins, who claims Liverpool have have identified the teenager as a potential target to strengthen their right wing options.
Furthermore, discussions between the Reds and the Senegalese international forward’s representatives have already taken place and the 18-year-old has given his green light to a potential move to Anfield.
Liverpool are also said to be in talks to sign Mbaye's team-mate in Paris, Bradley Barcola, so is a double raid on the cards?
Why Chelsea can avoid naming summer signings in Premier League squad
Chelsea can take advantage of a loophole when it comes to submitting their Premier League squad next month.
The Blues, under new management in Xabi Alonso, have been extremely busy this summer. As many as eight first-team players have arrived at Stamford Bridge, while Pep Chivarra is expected to take that number up to nine imminently.
Standard Sport understands the left-back has agreed personal terms with Chelsea and all that remains is for an agreement to be struck with Rayo Vallecano and the subsequent medical.
With Mykhailo Mudryk available for selection again after resolving his anti-doping disciplinary proceedings with the Football Association (FA), the Chelsea first-team squad is expanding, though sales are expected between now and transfer Deadline Day.
As things currently stand, the Blues have 41 players listed in their senior squad on the official club website.
Former Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld with an interesting take on the biggest transfer rumour at present...
"Don’t forget, they have already signed Christos Tzolis. I know he comes from the Belgian league but he is already a good player," Alderweireld toldHajper.
"He’s very direct and strong with big legs and he can handle the physical duels of the Premier League. He can go left or right, he’s good at shooting and has already proven himself in the Champions League on the very biggest stage. I think they have already bought a very good player there to play down the left.
“Leonardo Trossard has been a good player for Arsenal because he was very creative and dangerous around the box but Christos Tzolis is strong and quick, and will be more dynamic in the Premier League. I think this role will suit Tzolis a lot better than it did Trossard.
“Arsenal have a lot of the ball. They play in the opponent’s half. Trossard playing between the lines, left and right, was very decisive at times for Arsenal but Tzolis will give them another dimension this season if they use him right.”

Bruno Guimaraes will not have to select a different shirt number at Arsenal, with his transfer nearing completion.
Arsenal have been linked with a move for the Newcastle captain all summer, making their first official bid on Monday in an attempt to draw a line under the transfer saga.
While the Gunners’ bid was rejected by the Magpies, the Athletic have since reported that the two clubs are nearing a total agreement, with there being a desire among all parties to bring situation to a close.
With the deal now on course for completion and Guimaraes awaiting permission from Newcastle to undergo a medical and seal a move to the Premier League champions, it will not come as a surprise as to which shirt number the Brazilian is likely to request.
Toby Alderweireld has a warning for his former club.
"Victor Osimhen is a very good striker, and Tottenham Hotspur need a very good striker. They have lacked a top player there since Harry Kane so I think that’s an area where they have to improve," Alderweireld toldHajper.
“Osimhen has scored everywhere he has played. He is going to get you goals, even in the Premier League.
“Spurs cannot gamble too much this season. I think that’s why they are spending big money on big players because they know they need to give something back to the fans and they need to sign these players quickly before other clubs become interested. They need to get back to the level and the standard that we were used to.
“Spurs aren’t the only club that could use a striker like him but they need his goals because it’s what they lacked last season as well.
“The only concern for clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United is maybe his age. He’s not the youngest player anymore and it seems like everyone wants to find a 23-year-old superstar who can bang in goals for the next seven or eight years, and I understand that, but you also need a good mix.
“That’s why it can be important to sign proven players who know how things go so they can bring on the younger, potential superstars alongside them, because they can set the best example.
“I think about my time at Ajax. The mix was on another level. We had Dusan Tadic and Daley Blind and Frenkie De Jong and Matthijs de Ligt coming through. That’s what you need.”

Toby Alderweireld with a spicy verdict on Man United's deal for Youri Tielemans.
"The problem with modern football is that sometimes we look too much at stats like assists and goals," he toldHajper. "Of course, Youri Tielemans creates assists and scores goals, and can shoot from outside the box and score free kicks, but he is so much more than that.
“Tielemans is a link up player, and you have to watch him to understand why he is so important to his teams, not just look at his stats, because he is always trying to play the ball forward.
“You have some midfield players who have a pass success rate of 98% but they are always playing the ball backwards. Tielemans is a guy who turns, opens up and plays the ball between the lines, and that’s very important for a club like Manchester United who need to break other teams down.
“Even when he’s playing in a deep role, he’s playing it in an attacking way. He’s thinking about going forwards, always. Sometimes he will lose the ball but that’s what happens when you take some risks in games to make things happen, and I think that’s something United need, and he has the mentality to be brave and positive under the big pressure of the shirt.
“He will put in ultra big effort and say to his team mates, give me the ball and let me change the game for you. He will take the responsibility to take Manchester United forward.”
