Liverpool are said to be open to signing Vinicius Junior as a free agent in 2027 if he runs his Real Madrid contract down, but a meeting in the next few days will determine his future.
Premier League champions Arsenal are reportedly lying in wait to sign him this summer, while a report from last week claimed Liverpool believe the finances to sign Vini will make sense in 2027.
Journalist Ramon Alvarez de Mon, who has insider Real Madrid sources, claimed last week that Liverpool were the first Premier League team to respond positively to contact from the Brazilian superstar’s agents.
He reported last week on YouTube: “Real Madrid are interested in renewing Vinicius’s contract, and Vinicius is interested in staying at Real Madrid. These are the official positions, but at the moment, I’m not aware that the differences between the two sides have been resolved.
“Unless Vinicius’s side sees an increase in Real Madrid’s leverage, meaning a real rapprochement with Vinicius’s position, they don’t see the need to meet.
“Vinicius’s people, naturally, have to do their job… to find out what the position would be of other clubs that could potentially sign Vinicius, whether in 2026 or 2027.
“We’re mainly talking about Premier League teams.
“In those initial enquiries, there was one club that clearly responded positively to their interest in Vinicius, but the numbers worked out for 2027.
“That club is Liverpool.”
Vini Jr set for critical Real Madrid meeting this week to decide fate of contract renewal talks
Now, Ramon Alvarez de Mon reports that the next round of talks between Madrid and Vini Jr’s agents will take place in the next 48 hours.
He reports: “The meeting between Vinicius and Real Madrid will take place in the next 48 hours. Madrid will maintain the offer from recent months, what will Vinicius do?”

The Brazilian forward reportedly wants €30m (£25.9m) per year to renew his deal with Madrid, while they are only offering €22m (£18.8m) per annum.
That means the winger wants £498k per week, but Madrid are offering £360k per week.
Could Liverpool really afford to pay Vini Jr’s wage demands?
Considering Liverpool paid Mohamed Salah £485,000 per week, it’s not inconceivable even if it’s unlikely.
That said, it tracks why any Liverpool interest is contingent on him being a free agent in 2027, because that kind of salary could only be possible if there was no transfer fee to be factored into what is already a ludicrous calculation.
While I was previously of the opinion that Vini’s personality doesn’t suit Liverpool or their culture, when a player this good is available, you do everything you can to make it possible to bring him to your club.
Luis Suarez, for example, was hardly the type of player you’d typically associate with Liverpool, but he is arguably the best player I have ever seen at Anfield. Including Mohamed Salah.
For these types of players, you need to be willing to put up with a measure of craziness for the entertainment they provide every week.
