**West Ham United are interested in a move for Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson this summer.**
The 26-year-old has been on the radar of the Hammers for a number of years now, but could summer of 2026 finally be the summer he lines up in claret and blue.
After selling Crysencio Summerville to Al Hilal for £55 million guaranteed, you would have thought we would have replaced him by now, but that hasn’t been the case so far.
In the last week or so, our attempts to sign players have reportedly stepped up, and the left wing position is one of the priorities.
Our insider, ExWHUEmployee has suggested Manor Solomon, Simon Adingra, and Reiss Nelson are the main targets for the position.
On Nelson, last week Ex said: “We have been a long time admirer of the player and he is said to be keen to remain in London and fancies the prospect of playing regularly for us. He would offer good natural width on the left.”
On Monday, an Ex update stated he was on a list of alternatives to Manor Solomon along with Simon Adingra and Matteo Cancellieri of Lazio.
I think both Solomon and Adingra would be better fits for us out on that left side, they are a lot more pacey and direct than Reiss Nelson, but the Arsenal man would still be a decent signing.
With just a year on his contract with an option of another year to extend, Arsenal will be very keen on selling Nelson this summer. He is more than capable of playing on both wings, so he could be a great option on top of one of Adingra or Solomon.
After losing Adama, and assuming Cornet will also leave, Jarrod Bowen is the only senior winger at the club, so it would make sense to bring in two, and Nelson being able to back up both the left and right wing would make a lot of sense.
Having no real wing depth last season killed us, when Summerville was injured we really missed him, and when Jarrod Bowen’s form really dropped towards the end of the season we had no choice but to play him because we didn’t really have anyone else.
Signing Nelson plus another winger with Ajala also coming through, our depth problem in that area of the pitch could be solved. But would Nelson want to drop down to the Championship not being a guaranteed starter? I’m not so sure.
I wouldn’t him to come in as our main left wing signing, I think we could do better than that, but if he came in as part of a squad where he will get a lot of minutes in a long Championship season, for a decent fee, I wouldn’t be against it at all.
