Mohamed Salah is on the cusp of officially signing for Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor after being pictured in their kit on his way to Istanbul.
Salah announced his premature exit from Liverpool in March, ending a glittering nine-season career at Anfield despite having a year remaining on his contract.
He was quickly linked to clubs in Saudi Arabia, Italy, and the United States, but waited until after this summer’s World Cup to plot out his next career move.
Surprisingly, that has seen him opt for the Turkish Super Lig. Despite contact with Besiktas, Salah is set to join Trabzonspor on a two-year deal.
The club posted a video of the 34-year-old donning their kit during his flight to Istanbul on Wednesday, after announcing his scheduled arrival the previous night.

Trabzonspor posted on X: “Professional footballer Mohamed Salah, with whom we have begun transfer negotiations, will be at Istanbul Ataturk Airport General Aviation Terminal at 12:00 on Wednesday, August 5.”
His shirt on the flight had No. 61 on the back, but he is unlikely to assume that squad number.
Trabzonspor are livestreaming his arrival, as they understandably make the most of the high-profile move.

Despite his struggles and fallout at Liverpool last season, the expectation was Salah would seek to remain in Europe’s top five leagues, or at the very least join a Champions League club.
Instead, Trabzonspor finished third last season and face a Europa League playoff later this month to qualify for the competition proper.
It ensures Salah will not face Liverpool this season, with Andoni Iraola‘s side competing in the Champions League for the ninth time in the last 10 campaigns.
Salah’s Anfield exit means Dominik Szoboszlai is now the club’s highest goalscorer in the competition with six goals, 42 fewer than the Egyptian.
