Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye has emerged as a target for Liverpool, with contact made with the player’s agent ahead of expected talks with the Ligue 1 side.
Liverpool’s transfer pursuits have centred around Bradley Barcola in recent weeks, but his teenage teammate has now been thrust into the conversation.
RMC Sport‘s Fabrice Hawkins reports that the Reds have “stepped up their pursuit in recent days” after identifying the 18-year-old as a “concrete” target.
Talks with PSG are now expected to follow, with transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reporting Liverpool have already made contact with Mbaye’s new agent, Jorge Mendes.
Bayer Leverkusen have been working on a deal for the Senegal international, but Romano claims Mbaye is “giving priority” to Liverpool.

PSG are mooted to want over €40 million (£34.2m) for the forward, who predominantly plays on the right but can switch to the left wing, ticking the versatility box for Andoni Iraola.
Mbaye has attracted interest from Premier League and Bundesliga clubs this summer, among others, as a young player capable of having an immediate impact but also developing into an elite performer.
A product of PSG’s academy, Mbaye is pacey and highly-regarded for his technical skills and one-v-one ability; he scored three goals and assisted twice in 24 Ligue 1 outings last season.
Liverpool pursuing Mbaye would be in addition to securing Barcola’s signature.
Why Ibrahim Mbaye would be a smart signing for Liverpool
Comfortable operating from both wings, Mbaye is a player with plenty of upside and with senior club and international experience.
At 18, he has already earned 15 caps for Senegal, including four appearances at the World Cup, where he scored against France, in addition to his 42 appearances for PSG.
Crucially, as he is still a teenager, he would not need to be registered as a non-homegrown player in Liverpool’s Premier League squad as he is under 21.
Any player under the age of 21 is not classed as a senior player in the Premier League; therefore clubs can register as many as they wish.
Moreover, Mbaye would later qualify as a homegrown player from 2029/30, creating more upside for Liverpool as they seek to bolster their attacking ranks.
What it means for Cody Gakpo remains to be seen as Tottenham‘s interest continues to linger.
