Tottenham Hotspur had a tough time during the 2025/26 Premier League season. This much is true, but major steps have been taken to avoid a repeat of such a dreadful campaign.
With players such as Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes having already made the jump to North London, the Lilywhites are now looking to add a world-class winger to their ranks.
Spurs have struggled for consistent quality out wide recently. They have some excellent wingers on their books, such as Dejan Kulusevski and Mohamed Kudus, but they have both struggled manfully with injuries.
Savinho, Omar Marmoush and Cody Gakpo are all in Spurs’ sights at the moment, according to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio. They would all be excellent additions to Spurs’ squad, but can they land any of the trio in the summer transfer window?

Speaking with PariuriX, Di Marzio said: “Tottenham need some wingers this transfer window, so they are focusing on Savinho, Omar Marmoush and Cody Gakpo. These three players are the players Roberto De Zerbi wants.
“They need two wingers, so they are trying to get two of these players, which won’t be easy at all, but they are trying.
“This summer they already got super good players like Tonali and Mateus Fernandes. Other big clubs wanted those two players as well but Tottenham got them in the end, because De Zerbi is very good at convincing the players.
“I think Savinho, Marmoush and Gakpo are the three players they are trying to get, but it will be difficult because the clubs don’t want to sell them. They want a lot of money for them but these three players are their main targets.”

Which of the three would be the best signing for Tottenham?
From the stats shown above, it would initially seem that Gakpo would be the smartest buy, but the numbers don’t tell the whole story.
Gakpo was given far more playing time than Marmoush and Savinho were in the Premier League – the Dutch international was afforded plenty of starts, while most of the Manchester City duo’s playing time came from the bench.
Despite recording the weakest G/A tally, Savinho is probably the closest thing to what Spurs need right now. Marmoush is more of an attacking midfielder or a striker, while Gakpo is a jack of all trades (and master of none). Savinho, meanwhile, is an out-and-out wide player.
While he can play on either wing, he generally excels the most when playing on the right, as this allows him to cut inside on his preferred left foot.
A very quick player with outstanding ball control, Savinho can give any full-back in the world trouble with his clever movement and extensive library of skills and tricks.
According to The Sun, he will be worth £60 million to any of his potential suitors. This isn’t cheap, but at just 22 years of age, his best years are well ahead of him – we think he’s worth it.
