Enzo Maresca‘s side drew 1-1 with the Italian champions before losing out 3-1 on penalties in what was nonetheless an encouraging opening display, with the manager insisting his side “will get better and better” as the squad continues to bed into his methods ahead of the new season.
One notable absentee from the City squad for Wednesday’s game is Ryan McAidoo, who picked up a minor shoulder problem in Hong Kong and has been ruled out of this fixture, despite his five-star cameo against Inter prompting a clear message from Maresca to director of football Hugo Viana about the teenager’s future at the club.

The K-League All Stars fixture gives Maresca a further opportunity to assess the fringe members of his touring squad in competitive conditions, with several players whose futures at the Etihad Stadium remain unresolved still making their cases for involvement in the new season.
City continue to carry a squad without their World Cup participants from England, Norway, Spain and France, though the returning players are expected to link up with the full group upon the squad’s return to Manchester later this month ahead of the Community Shield against Arsenal.
