Xabi Alonso has named his Chelsea side for the pre-season friendly against Juventus, with Cole Palmer one of the notable absentees for the Blues.

While results are not important in pre-season, there will be a desire for Chelsea to get back to winning ways after losing to 10-man Tottenham last time out in Sydney.

Palmer was spotted training alone in the final session before this game, and he is not present in the matchday squad for this game.

Confirmed Chelsea XI vs Juventus

There is a first start of pre-season for Moises Caicedo, as well as a debut for one of the club’s new signings too. Let’s take a look at the full XI.

Alonso did plenty of tactical work with an XI 24 hours before this game, giving away some clues to who would be starting.

It is interesting that the veteran Danny Welbeck has been given the nod to start ahead of the likes of Liam Delap and Nicolas Jackson, whose futures are by no means secure this summer.

Geovany Quenda will be keen to make an impression as another new signing this summer. This is his first outing in a Chelsea shirt too.
