Trabzonspor are reportedly targeting Darwin Nunez after reaching a two-year contract agreement with Mohamed Salah, potentially reuniting the former Liverpool forwards at the Turkish club.

Trabzonspor are setting their sights on Darwin Nunez following an agreement with his former Liverpool team-mate Mohamed Salah. The 34 year old became a free agent at the conclusion of last season after departing Anfield, with a host of clubs keen to secure his signature.

Several Saudi Pro League and MLS outfits were heavily linked with the Egyptian winger, yet staying in Europe appeared to be his preference and, albeit not with the club many anticipated, that is precisely what Salah has opted to do.

The Turkish side released a statement on Tuesday evening confirming they had entered into transfer negotiations with Salah and that he would be travelling to Trabzon the following day. Salah has since touched down in the city and is widely expected to put pen to paper on a two-year deal.

It appears Trabzonspor are far from finished in the attacking transfer market, with Spor Depor journalist Resat Can Ozbudak reporting that the club "has increased its pressure regarding Darwin Nunez".

It has been a turbulent past 12 months for Nunez since his move from Liverpool to Al Hilal. Despite the club's high-profile acquisitions, he managed just 24 Saudi Pro League appearances, with none coming between February and May due to an eligibility issue, reports the Liverpool Echo.

This left him arriving at the World Cup with Uruguay short of match fitness, and the South American nation subsequently made a disappointing early exit from the tournament at the group stage. The 27 year old is undeniably at a pivotal juncture in his career, with a switch to Turkey emerging as a genuine possibility, particularly with Besiktas, who held discussions regarding Salah, representing a potential destination for the forward.

There were some surprising suggestions of a return to Liverpool, though these were quickly ruled out, with Andoni Iraola's outfit instead pursuing wide players.

Yan Diomande topped their wishlist, but his desire was to make the move to Paris Saint-Germain from RB Leipzig. Real Madrid subsequently became the favourites to secure his services.

PSG consequently redirected their attention towards Monaco's Maghnes Akliouche and subsequently Ajax's Mika Godts, which appears to have created an opportunity for Liverpool to pursue a double swoop on the European champions.

Bradley Barcola has represented a genuine target for several weeks, and now his compatriot Ibrahim Mbaye is being evaluated following the collapse of his proposed transfer to Leipzig.
