‘Possible’ – Fabrizio Romano indicates Liverpool transfer u-turn for Cody Gakpo
In recent weeks, there has been a lot of chatter about Cody Gakpo’s long-term Liverpool future.
The Dutch international has been a reliable player for the Reds and signed a new contract to keep him at the club until 2030 last year.
However, Tottenham want to sign Gakpo this summer as Roberto De Zerbi aims to continue his spending spree in North London.
Last month, we relayed claims on Read Liverpool that the Reds will not entertain any bids for Gakpo.
However, Fabrizio Romano has appeared to suggest that Liverpool’s stance could change this month.
Liverpool could be open to selling Gakpo
Reports in England confirmed that Liverpool want at least £72m for Gakpo, although it was reiterated that he isn’t for sale and is very much part of Andoni Iraola’s plans.
Now, Romano claims Tottenham are in direct talks with the Dutchman’s entourage, adding that Liverpool closed the door to a transfer in July but could re-evaluate now as they are set to spend big on Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye.

Honestly, it’s hard to predict this one. But the fact of the matter is that Gakpo is a useful asset who can cover multiple positions.
He is also tied down at the club until 2030, so Liverpool hold all the cards here and are in a fantastic position to either retain him or get maximum value from Tottenham.
