**Axel Disasi could still join West Ham United this summer.**
According to Simon Phillips, West Ham and Chelsea have settled the framework of a deal for Axel Disasi, and the Hammers have reached a verbal agreement with the defender over a contract. However, another clause has been inserted in his contract, should West Ham fail to earn immediate promotion back to the Premier League, Disasi would have the option to leave under a pre-agreed buyout arrangement.
But most importantly, Phillips also suggested that Disasi would only make the move to West Ham if he gets no other/better offers. If he doesn’t receive a better offer in the next two weeks, Disasi will sign the contract at West Ham.
It’s unclear whether this is true or not, but let’s assume it is. This is totally understandable, he loved his time in East London and wouldn’t mind coming back at all, however, if there is an offer to remain in the Premier League with Crystal Palace said to be interested he’d prefer that, AC Milan are also said to hold an interest in the 28-year-old.
While this doesn’t bother me and shouldn’t bother West Ham that he’d rather go somewhere else, why wouldn’t he? We’re in the Championship. I’d still move on from him and get someone else in as soon as possible.
Rumours suggest the alternative to Disasi is Dylan Lawlor of Cardiff City. We should be trying to do that deal done now, and if we manage to get a deal accepted and Disasi is still undecided then we should just go through with the Lawlor deal.
