‘Alert’ – Liverpool linked with shock loan move for Newcastle United attacker

**Liverpool’s attack is an interesting space at the moment as Andoni Iraola prepares for his first season in charge of the club.**

After losing Mohamed Salah, the Reds signed Victor Munoz as a versatile option to complement the likes of Cody Gakpo, Rio Ngumoha, Federico Chiesa, Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike.

However, Ekitike is injured and is unlikely to feature during the first half of the season, while Gakpo has been linked with a move to Tottenham.

That leaves Isak as the only reliable No. 9 in the squad, which is far from ideal.

Liverpool hadn’t been reliably linked with a striker until today, but that appears to have changed.

Mark Brus of [Caught Offside](https://www.caughtoffside.com/2026/08/05/nick-woltemade-transfer-liverpool-man-united/) reports that Liverpool and Manchester United are alert to Woltemade’s future as Newcastle’s precarious position forces them into a kind of fire sale.

Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon have already left, while Bruno Guimaraes is close to a move to Arsenal.

As a final nail in the coffin, Eddie Howe walked out of the club ahead of the new season, which came as a shock to everyone involved with the game.

The report states that the Magpies are seeking a permanent sale but could settle for a loan deal with an option to buy.
