André Almeida’s potential move to Swansea City has taken another twist. The Valencia midfielder is increasingly frustrated at the way his situation is being handled behind the scenes.
Valencia have already agreed a deal with Swansea worth around €3.5m (£3m) plus bonuses. They are still fully determined to complete the transfer.
And according to Mundo Deportivo, the Spanish club have now stepped up their efforts. But they are trying to convince the Portuguese midfielder to accept the move.
Valencia ramp up the pressure for transfer
André Almeida trained away from the main group for the second consecutive day on Wednesday. Mundo Deportivo describes this as a clear message from Valencia that his future lies elsewhere.
Carlos Corberán has no plans for the midfielder. Also, the report states there was another meeting between club officials and the player on Wednesday. Journalist Nacho Sanchis claims Valencia again urged Almeida to accept Swansea’s offer.
The La Liga side are keen to finalise the transfer as soon as possible. Selling Almeida would reduce the wage bill and create room within the club’s spending limits, with Valencia prioritising the signing of a new right-back before the window closes.
Barcelona and Porto frustration
The latest report also offers more insight into why Almeida has been so reluctant to approve the move.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the 26-year-old is unhappy. He believes he could have left Valencia much earlier for Barcelona or Porto.
Instead, after signing a new contract less than a year ago, he now finds himself being pushed towards a Championship club, a destination that has never particularly appealed to him. And that frustration now appears to be at the heart of the negotiations.

For Swansea City, the situation remains straightforward. An agreement with Valencia is already in place. However, the transfer cannot be completed until Almeida gives his approval.
