VfB Stuttgart striker Ermedin Demirovic has admitted he “wouldn’t say no” to facing Liverpool, or Arsenal, in the Champions League this season.
Schwäbische Zeitung report comments from the 28-year-old striker today as he gears up for another season as Stuttgart’s leading man.
Champions League Dream
The newspaper explains that while Stuttgart are trying to sign Dženan Pejčinović from Wolfsburg, a deal is not progressing as yet. That means Ermedin Demirovic can start the campaign as the German side’s leading man.
He’s already confirmed his commitment to the club, insisting that nothing has changed after the World Cup this summer.
“I said I want to stay here,” the 28-year-old explained at VfB’s training camp in Grassau (Lake Chiemsee). “There is nothing new on my mind; for me, everything remains exactly as it was before the World Cup.”
He is instead looking to the future and what could be an exciting year for Stuttgart. They finished fourth last season, meaning they’ll be back in the Champions League this season for the first time since finishing second in 2024.
Arsenal Or Liverpool Is Fine
That year saw them exit at the group stages. But it wasn’t before taking on the likes of Real Madrid, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain. Now, Demirovic would like to take on England’s best.

He admits that he ‘would like to face Arsenal’. According to the newspaper, “it would be cool to play in England”, particularly at the Emirates. However, he’s happy to admit that he “wouldn’t say no” to Liverpool either.
Whether Demirovic gets his wish, remains to be seen. With the league phase not set to be drawn until August 27th, he has a bit of a wait on his hands before he can find out unfortunately.
In the meantime, Liverpool can perhaps sit and wonder whether they should be insulted by the idea they would be second to choice to Arsenal for the Stuttgart man.
