Liverpool have been contacted over a deal to sign a Real Madrid star this summer, and Jose Mourinho has given his green light to a sale, according to TEAMtalk.
The Reds have had a relatively quiet summer window so far, with winger Victor Munoz the only first-team arrival so far, joining Jeremy Jacquet, who agreed to join back in January. But new manager Andoni Iraola, who replaced Arne Slot, is still looking for replacements for key players like Ibrahima Konate, Andy Robertson, and Mohamed Salah, who all left on free transfers.
That has seen the club begin to look around the market for potential deals to improve the squad, and they have now been approached about a move to bring in a star from the Bernabeu.
Liverpool Contacted to Sign Raul Asencio

According to a report, Liverpool have been contacted about a deal to sign Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio this summer.
The centre-back, who has been described as 'very quick', broke into the first-team at the Bernabeu in 2024 under Carlo Ancelotti and impressed, before losing his place in the team last season under Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa.
The 23-year-old was left out of the Spain squad for the World Cup, and it was now emerged that new manager Jose Mourinho has approved his sale, as he is not in his plans for the upcoming season.
Liverpool are understood to be long-term admirers of the Spaniard, and Iraola is also believed to be a big fan of the defender. Liverpool know they need defensive reinforcements for the upcoming season, and the club are intrigued about the potential of a deal following the contact.
Asencio is not currently looking to leave the Bernabeu and would prefer to stay and fight for his place. However, Mourinho has held direct talks with the player to tell him that he isn't in his long-term plans.
No formal talks have taken place and a deal is not imminent currently, but Liverpool are expected to be front and centre should he accept that his future lies away from the Spanish capital.

Asencio may be only 23, but he has got bundles of experience having played 80 times for Real Madrid over two seasons with the club. While he is naturally a centre-back, he is also capable of playing at right-back, and with Joe Gomez injured again, that versatility could be a huge help to the manager.
The player has played in some huge games already in his fledgling career, and with Iraola a big fan, he will have a great idea of how to get the best out of him in his squad.
A deal isn't close at this stage, but with a few weeks to go in the window, this has the potential to change quickly and is one to keep an eye on.
