Enzo Maresca refused to give any guarantees that reported Nottingham Forest target Tijjani Reijnders will remain at Manchester City beyond this month.

The midfielder only arrived at the club last season, but is facing speculation over his future after Forest and Galatasaray both showed interest in the Dutchman.

City have not dismissed the prospect of selling him after it was claimed Forest are keen on a £55m deal for the former AC Milan midfielder.

When pressed on whether he wished to retain Reijnders, Maresca would only go so far as expressing satisfaction with his efforts during the tour.

"He's a player that is here with us," he said.

"The players that are with us until the day that they aren't with us, it's my duty to do the best for them. I'm happy with his performance, and he's been working well since he came back from his holiday. At the moment, I'm very happy with him."

Reijnders is said to be open to the move to the City Ground having failed to establish himself as a regular starter in City's first team since his £47m move from AC Milan.

Anderson and Rodri are expected to anchor City's midfield next season, which has left Reijnders facing more time on the bench, whereas he would be a key component of Oliver Glasner's team.

He has already been linked with Atletico Madrid this summer, but the La Liga side have since moved on to other targets after his price tag was set at £60m.

City may well do business at £5m less, but that would still bank them a profit on what they paid for Reijnders last summer.

Having banked £116m for Anderson, Forest have plenty of cash to invest as they look for a much-improved season, having hired Glasner following the departure of Vitor Pereira at the end of last season.

Forest have been linked with a number of players since the end of the season with Ousmane Diomande the latest player said to be closing in on a move to the City Ground.
