Real Madrid have improved their renewal offer to Vinicius Junior for a new contract, football.london understands.
Despite the club previously being firm on their terms, a new and improved proposal has been made as talks between Los Blancos and the player continue this week.
Arsenal remain very keen to pounce on any situation that emerges should the terms not meet the expectations of Vini Jr and his camp, or if the player is unwilling to lower his demands in order to stay in the Spanish capital, which has been his preference.
Momentum had begun to shift in the case, with Arsenal’s chances of landing the 26-year-old thought to have improved last week.
However, Real Madrid remain determined, while measured, to keep one of their biggest stars, although they remain keen not to compromise their structure through concerns of future knock-on effects on other player negotiations.
"Well, we are really active, trying to improve and evolve the team. That's clear," Arteta told media on Saturday after being asked about the potential of adding Vinicius Junior.
"We expect to have movements in the next few weeks, obviously, because we want to get better like anybody else. And you can just see it. The transfer market and our opponents, what we are doing, we won't sit still. And we are very ambitious in what we want to do."
Arsenal have agreed a deal in the region of £75million for Bruno Guimaraes. They are hopeful the player weill join up this week ahead of their match with Borussia Dortmund on Sunday.
