Chelsea face fresh interest in Pedro Neto after Manchester City made a formal approach to the winger’s representatives over a possible summer move.
City are exploring Neto as they prepare for the possibility of Savinho leaving the Etihad Stadium, with former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca understood to be an admirer of the Portugal international.
However, Chelsea’s position remains firm for now. Fabrizio Romano reports that Neto is not on Chelsea’s list of players for sale and remains part of Xabi Alonso’s plans.
Romano says City have opened talks with Neto’s camp to explore whether a move could become possible.
Maresca is considered an important factor after working closely with the 26-year-old during his time at Stamford Bridge. City could intensify their pursuit if Savinho completes a move away.
Chelsea are not actively attempting to move Neto on.
The Blues could reconsider if they receive a significant proposal, while Romano also reports that the player could be open to the possibility of joining City. The eventual fee would therefore be central to whether discussions progress.
Neto’s position has become more interesting because Alonso now has considerable competition in the wide areas.
Geovany Quenda and Estevao both impressed during Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat against Juventus, while Jamie Gittens and Morgan Rogers provide further attacking options.

Neto remains an experienced option within a relatively young Chelsea attack, so selling him would still represent a significant squad decision.
For now, City have made their move at player level. Chelsea’s valuation and Alonso’s desire to retain Neto will determine whether it develops into anything more substantial.
