Liverpool’s transfer activity looks set to accelerate after the Reds concluded their pre-season tour of the USA with a 4-2 defeat to Leeds United on Sunday.
The match highlighted both the positives and areas for improvement under Andoni Iraola, with Liverpool taking a 2-0 lead in the first half before a much-changed side was overwhelmed after the break, handing the Basque coach his first defeat in charge.

The second-half collapse underlined the need for further reinforcements this summer. Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola is reportedly a top target.
There could also be departures, with Curtis Jones attracting interest from Inter Milan. Meanwhile, Liverpool are also monitoring another PSG winger, Ibrahim Mbaye, as they look to strengthen their attacking options.
Liverpool will finish their 2026-27 pre-season schedule with two games at Anfield, facing AS Monaco on Sunday, before hosting Como 1907 twice on August 16.
Ahead of the Monaco clash, the Ligue 1 club have officially confirmed that midfielder Pape Cabral has signed a contract extension. The 19-year-old Frenchman, who graduated from Monaco’s academy, is now tied to the club until June 30, 2031.
Currently preparing for the new season under Filipe Luis, Pape Cabral has featured in AS Monaco’s opening pre-season friendlies against AS Saint-Priest, Sporting CP and Cercle Brugge.
The Senegal-born midfielder progressed through Monaco’s academy and made his professional debut during the 2025-26 season.
Cabral made his first-team debut against FC Lorient on September 27 and went on to make six appearances, including two in the UEFA Champions League against Manchester City and Bodø/Glimt.
The midfielder also featured in Monaco’s UEFA Youth League campaign, helping the club secure wins over Pafos and Galatasaray.
Pape Cabral joined the AS Monaco Academy in 2022 from CS Mainvilliers, where he had played since 2013, and progressed through the club’s youth system.
He was part of Monaco’s successful 2022-23 Coupe Gambardella-winning squad, featuring in most matches, including the final as a starter. After progressing through the academy, Cabral signed his first professional contract with Monaco in February 2025.
At international level, the midfielder has represented France from U16 to U19 level, earning more than 34 caps and featuring at the 2024 UEFA European Under-17 Championship. Now contracted until 2031, Cabral remains committed to continuing his development with the Rouge et Blanc.
