The start of the new season is almost in sight for Liverpool - and the Reds could do with getting a move on in the transfer window.

Andoni Iraola and his players were back at the AXA Training Centre on Wednesday following their tour of the U.S., and they were joined for the first time by Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo, Alisson Becker, and new signing Victor Munoz.

And with just over two weeks to go until the Premier League season kicks off, there’s a new name for fans to get excited about as the search for a new winger continues.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today.

Ibrahim Mbaye (PSG)

Liverpool is considering a move for Ibrahim Mbaye — although the 18-year-old is one of several players under consideration by the Reds, Liverpool.com understands.

Nothing is advanced yet with Mbaye in terms of talks or a bid, despite speculation growing over the past 24 hours or so. Liverpool is, of course, targeting another Paris Saint-Germain star in Bradley Barcola, with both thought to be open to a move.

Bayer Leverkusen is claimed to have already started talks to sign Mbaye, with Ben Jacobs reporting that PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is part of the process.

Liverpool.com says: Getting Mbaye AND Barcola in would certainly make things very interesting. It would mean Liverpool has a true right winger, which has been a concern in the pursuit of Barcola.

And it would balance things nicely, with Mbaye and Rio Ngumoha both 18, and Barcola and Victor Munoz both 23. Let's not get too ahead of ourselves, though. We're still a long way away from deals getting done.

Andoni Iraola's 'priority'

Liverpool is prioritizing bolstering its attacking options in the summer transfer window, according to The Times.

Victor Munoz has now arrived on Merseyside following his signing from Osasuna earlier this summer, but the Reds are yet to secure a replacement for Mohamed Salah, despite the growing speculation over Barcola and Mbaye.

With Hugo Ekitike set to be out injured for at least another few months and Cody Gakpo being linked with a move to Tottenham, Liverpool could yet have a lot more work to do.

Liverpool.com says: It is getting more than a little worrying that we're now just over a couple of weeks away from the start of the new season, and it feels like there is still a LOT of work for Liverpool to do in the transfer market.

Attack might be the priority, but defense cannot be ignored. The situation at the back is threatening to get out of hand, with Jeremy Jacquet missing from training again on Wednesday, meaning Virgil van Dijk could end up partnered with someone like Wataru Endo or Ryan Gravenberch for the first game against Newcastle, which will not reflect well on the club's business.
