Andrea Berta's Arsenal are understood to have saved £25million on their acquisition of Bruno Guimaraes, as a result of savvy business from the midfielder's super agent.

Kia Joorabchian was brought in by the Brazilian this summer to help facilitate a move to North London, with Guimaraes desperate to secure his place in Mikel Arteta's starting XI.

While the top brass at St. James' Park initially set a price of around £100m for their captain, highlighting his talent as well as importance to Newcastle United, the Telegraph claim that Joorabchian was ultimately able to shave a quarter off that fee.

That will, in-turn, allow Berta and Arsenal to bolster their squad with further acquisitions this summer.

After agreeing a £75m fee for Guimaraes, Newcastle have granted the club legend permission to travel for a medical with Arsenal.

It comes as another case of the Tyneside-based club becoming unable to retain their key talents, having already lost a number of mainstays this summer.

Anthony Gordon, for example, joined Barcelona in a £69m move earlier in the window, while Tottenham Hotspur snapped up Sandro Tonali in a £100m move last month.

Thousands of Arsenal fans upgraded their matchday last season. This is how they did it.

There are also fears that a number of others could join a mass exodus from St. James' Park, with Manchester United reportedly eyeing Lewis Hall as they look to address problems at left-back, while Joelinton has been touted with a move to Saudi Arabia.

As for Arsenal, they will welcome a fantastic talent in the heart of midfield in Guimaraes, as they look to defend their Premier League title and push on for Champions League glory.

The Rio de Janeiro-born midfielder joined the Magpies from Lyon in a deal worth around £40m in 2022.

And in the years since, Guimaraes has managed 31 goals and 32 assists from 195 appearances across all competitions.

The talent also played a key part in Newcastle United's EFL Cup win in 2024/25, and was instrumental to their round of 16 Champions League run last term.
