Liverpool have reportedly been contacted over a potential transfer opportunity regarding Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio.
It seems the 23-year-old could be available this summer, with Liverpool sounded out over their interest, with Andoni Iraola known to be a long-time fan of the player.

Liverpool could do with more defensive depth at the moment, and Asencio could be a useful option due to being able to play both centre-back and right-back.
Still, according to TEAMtalk, this transfer does not currently look imminent, with Asencio himself not necessarily looking to leave Real Madrid.
Liverpool would do well to sign Raul Asencio
It will be interesting to see if this progresses in the days and weeks ahead, because Asencio could be just what Liverpool need this summer.
The Reds have had a bit of a quiet transfer window so far, with Iraola surely likely to be concerned that his squad’s defensive issues haven’t been addressed.
Ibrahima Konate left Liverpool at the end of his contract, leaving a major hole to be filled in the club’s backline, while Virgil van Dijk recently turned 35 and will surely need replacing soon.
If there is any chance of Asencio being lured to Anfield, then it’s surely a move they have to get done.

Who else has been linked with Liverpool?
Ezri Konsa is another name on Liverpool’s radar, and he could also definitely be an option worth exploring due to his Premier League experience.
Still, Aston Villa probably won’t want to sell and could make a deal complicated, so if someone as good as Asencio is available then it makes sense for LFC to take this opportunity.

Overall, though, the main name being linked with Liverpool is Bradley Barcola, as per Fabrizio Romano in the X post below…
Liverpool could undoubtedly also do well to strengthen their attack with a quality talent like Barcola this summer, as Iraola will need to deal with the blow of losing Mohamed Salah.
But fans will also surely be hoping something can be done about the defence as soon as possible, with Asencio looking like a good option to explore further.
