Liverpool’s pursuit of Bradley Barcola has received another encouraging update, with transfer journalist Ben Jacobs suggesting the French winger would favour a move to Anfield if both Liverpool and Arsenal reached agreements with Paris Saint-Germain.
Speaking about the situation, Jacobs said:
\> \*\*“My understanding is that if Liverpool & Arsenal both agreed a deal for Barcola, Barcola is leaning towards Liverpool.”\*\*
For Liverpool supporters, that is a significant development.
Liverpool Still in Pole Position?
The race for Barcola has become one of the biggest transfer stories of the summer.
Both Liverpool and Arsenal have been linked with the Paris Saint-Germain winger, with the two Premier League clubs reportedly monitoring his situation closely.
However, Jacobs’ latest update suggests that, if the financial side of any deal were equal, Barcola himself currently prefers Liverpool.
That doesn’t mean a transfer is imminent, but it is undoubtedly positive news for the Reds.
Why Liverpool Appeal
There are several reasons why Liverpool may be an attractive destination for the 23-year-old.
The arrival of Andoni Iraola has signalled a new era built around high-intensity, attacking football.
Barcola’s pace, direct running and ability to beat defenders make him an ideal fit for that style.
Liverpool can also offer the opportunity to become a central figure in the club’s next attacking generation alongside players such as Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak and Jeremie Frimpong.
For a player entering his prime, that project may prove extremely appealing.
Arsenal Still a Threat
Of course, Liverpool cannot assume the deal is done.
Arsenal remain one of Europe’s strongest clubs and could still persuade PSG with an attractive offer.
The Gunners are also looking to strengthen their attacking options and have the financial resources to compete for elite players.
Ultimately, Liverpool will still need to agree terms with Paris Saint-Germain before Barcola has any decision to make.
PSG Hold the Cards
Despite the encouraging update, PSG remain in control.
Barcola is under contract, and the French champions are expected to demand a substantial transfer fee before considering his sale.
Negotiations between the clubs are therefore likely to be the decisive factor.
If Liverpool can meet PSG’s valuation, Jacobs’ comments suggest the player himself may be ready to choose Anfield.
A Huge Boost for Liverpool
Winning the race for one of Europe’s most exciting young wingers would be another major statement from Liverpool this summer.
Supporters have been crying out for more pace, creativity and unpredictability following the departure of Mohamed Salah.
Barcola would provide exactly that.
And if Ben Jacobs’ information proves accurate, Liverpool may already have one important advantage over one of their biggest Premier League rivals.
Now the focus shifts to whether Liverpool can convince PSG.
Because if they do, the player appears increasingly ready to make Anfield his next home.
