Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah is reportedly closing in on a permanent move to Serie A side Como, with the centre-back expected to undergo a medical ahead of completing a transfer worth around £30 million.
According to the latest reports, negotiations between the two clubs have progressed rapidly, with Como now on the verge of securing one of the most significant signings in the club’s recent history. The move would bring an end to Chalobah’s long association with Chelsea, the club he joined as a youngster before progressing through the academy to the first team.
The 26-year-old has made more than 80 senior appearances for the Blues since making his competitive debut in 2021, earning praise for his versatility across the back line and his composure in possession.
Capable of operating as a central defender, right-back or in a back three, Chalobah has been a reliable squad option during his time at Stamford Bridge.
Despite his contributions, speculation surrounding his future has persisted over the past year as Chelsea have continued to reshape their squad. The west London club have invested heavily in younger players and defensive reinforcements, increasing competition for places and leading to questions over Chalobah’s long-term role.
Reports now suggest Como have moved decisively to secure the England international, with the newly ambitious Serie A outfit prepared to invest around £30 million to bring him to Italy. The fee would represent a significant outlay for the club as they continue strengthening their squad following their recent rise in Italian football.
Should the transfer be completed, Chalobah would reunite with a growing number of Premier League players who have opted to continue their careers in Serie A.
A move to Como could also provide the defender with the opportunity for more consistent first-team football, something that has proved difficult to guarantee at Chelsea given the competition within the squad.
From CHELSEA‘s perspective, the reported sale would generate additional funds as the club continues balancing its squad and transfer strategy ahead of the new campaign. The Blues have remained active in the market throughout the summer, with arrivals and departures expected as manager Xabi Alonso continues shaping the team to fit his tactical vision.
While reports indicate Chalobah is scheduled to undergo a medical before the deal is finalised, neither Chelsea nor Como have officially confirmed the transfer.
