New Liverpool signing Victor Munoz has spoken after meeting his new teammates, revealing that he made a big sacrifice for the Reds as he opens up on his 'new family'

New Liverpool signing Victor Munoz was more than happy to cut short his holiday following the World Cup in a bid to get up to speed ahead of the new Premier League season.
Brought in for a fee of around $47 million (£35 million) from Osasuna, Munoz was a part of the Spain team that beat Argentina to become world champions, though he didn't get onto the pitch during the tournament.
Entering the World Cup with an injury, Munoz is now fit again, though, and ready to hit the ground running under Andoni Iraola, which can only be useful for Liverpool given its lack of attacking options.
"Obviously, pre-season is well underway, and I was at the World Cup when the decision came through about the transfer," Munoz told club media on his first day with the team.
"I was in a position there where I couldn’t play in the team for Spain, so as soon as that competition was over, the main thing on my agenda was getting here, training, and getting to meet my teammates.
"Obviously, you need time to adapt when you are moving to a new club and a new country, so for me it was a case of the earlier I could get started, the better."

Munoz has taken the number 23 jersey at Liverpool. He arrives as a pacy, direct forward who should create plenty of chances from the left flank, which is the side of the field that he prefers.
The former Real Madrid ace says he is in good shape fitness-wise, so it shouldn't take too long for him to adjust to his new environment.
"I feel good," Munoz explained. "I'm very keen to get on, to establish myself both in training and in playing.
"As you say, [there were] good training [sessions] for me in the United States during the Spain camp and I want now to keep up with that rhythm.

"I was very keen to get here. With the trainings, I'm hoping to be able to have fun with my new family and bit by bit I'm sure they're going to help me to get back to my top level."
Liverpool.com says: Munoz may need some time to adapt at Anfield, but he has the raw ingredients that the Reds need in wide areas and has the versatility that Iraola wants from his wingers.
If he is ready to play against AS Monaco at the weekend, he could play in a Liverpool jersey for the first time and get the chance to show what he is all about.
