Victor Munoz believes he is ready to play for Liverpool in this weekend’s friendly against Monaco, after failing to feature at all for Spain at the World Cup.
Munoz went unused throughout Spain’s triumphant World Cup having aggravated a fitness issue during training in the United States.
He was sidelined days after his £34.5 million move to Liverpool was completed, but after cutting his holiday short of the usual three weeks to join pre-season at the AXA Training Centre on Wednesday, the winger declared himself fit.
“I feel good. I’m very keen to get on, to establish myself both in training and in playing,” Munoz told the club’s official website.
“[It was] good training for me in the United States during the Spain camp and I want now to keep up with that rhythm.
“I was very keen to get here. With the training, I’m hoping to be able to have fun with my new family and bit by bit I’m sure they’re going to help me to get back to my top level.”
Can Victor Munoz play for Liverpool vs. Monaco?
There could be an immediate chance for Munoz to impress with Liverpool hosting Monaco in their penultimate friendly of the summer on Sunday.
While he is yet to adapt to the setup, making it more likely that Rio Ngumoha and Kieran Morrison continue on the wings at Anfield, it provides an opportunity for the 23-year-old to play for the first time at any level since May with Osasuna.
“Well, I think I’m ready,” he continued.
“Obviously if the coach says so after training and asks me to feature in the starting XI, I’ll be there.
“I’m keen and I can’t wait to get started. Monaco, why not?”

Munoz was not required to report to the AXA until next week, as is the case with fellow World Cup finalist Alexis Mac Allister, but the new No. 23 was eager to get started.
“Obviously, pre-season is well under way and I was at the World Cup when the decision came through about the transfer,” he explained.
“I was in a position there where I couldn’t play in the team for Spain so as soon as that competition was over the main thing on my agenda was getting here, training and getting to meet my team-mates.
“Obviously, you need time to adapt when you are moving to a new club and a new country so for me it was a case of the earlier I could get started, the better.”
