Mo Salah will earn more than any other player in Turkish football history after his shock move to Trabzonspor, along with a lucrative clause in his contract.
Salah has been unveiled as the most high-profile signing in Trabzonspor’s history, as well as arguably the biggest ever in the Turkish Super Lig.
The Egyptian has signed a two-year contract after terminating his deal with Liverpool a year early, though his move to Trabzon came as a surprise amid wider interest from clubs in Europe as well as MLS and the Saudi Pro League.
It means he will not be competing in the Champions League this season, with Trabzonspor kicking off the campaign in the Europa League playoffs.
But joining Fatih Tekke’s side has earned Salah a significant wage: the highest salary in Turkish history, surpassing Victor Osimhen’s €15 million a year at Galatasaray.
How much does Mo Salah earn at Trabzonspor?
€17m annual salary
€5m signing bonus
According to a number of sources including Bloomberg, Salah’s contract is worth €17 million a year, or £280,000 a week, along with a signing-on bonus of €5 million (£4.3m).
Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu further reports on X that the 34-year-old will receive 20 percent of merchandise sales for Salah products.
Image rights were also negotiated into the deal, with representative Ramy Abbas Issa ensuring the best-possible conditions for his sole client.

While Salah’s weekly wage at Trabzonspor is significantly less than he was earning at Liverpool – £400,000 a week – favourable taxes and the bonuses built into his contract could ensure a similar level of take-home pay.
Including bonuses, Salah’s final contract at Anfield was worth up to £480,000 a week, though it remains to be seen if merchandise sales boost his new deal into that region.
Mo Salah: ‘Everywhere I go, I always try to win something’
Salah was greeted in Turkey by thousands of supporters, with the legendary forward taken aback by the reception he was met with.
“It’s unbelievable. The fans are here now, the reception is incredible, so I’m very happy to be here,” he said on his unveiling, per WinWin.
“I can’t express it in words, but the fans here are showing so much love.”

He continued: “25,000 people are here. I don’t know if you’ve ever seen this at an airport, but it’s a great feeling and shows a lot of love.
“I’m really happy about this, and I’m looking forward to training with the team.
“Everywhere I go, I always try to win something. I hope we can do something good in the league and in Europe as well.”
