Anxiety as €45m from Everton should be enough – Toffees have left wing options

SportwitnessSport Witness

Everton‘s initial approach for Jonathan Rowe has been rejected, however, they could yet sign the winger.

Earlier this week, Sport Witness covered how the Toffees put forward around €35m for the English winger. Bologna stood firm and it became clear that they would need a bigger offer to let Rowe leave. At that time it was stated only offers over €55m would prove enough for the Rossoblu.

Quotidiano Sportivo explained that while Rowe has been keen on returning to England, that dream will have to wait.

A different stance is now emerging in Italy and it encourages Everton into upping their offer.

New offer being feared

Corriere dello Sport report Bologna are actually ‘trembling’ after the Toffees made their offer. While they quietly informed Everton about their rejection, this could change if anything over €45m is put on the table.

The newspaper point out that the Italian side have already lost Remo Freuler and Santiago Castro. Ideally, they wouldn’t need more major exits but after a point, Italian clubs struggle to reject massive offers from Premier League sides.

This could turn out to be true in Rowe’s case.

Fight was the only way Bologna could get him

Corriere dello Sport report Bologna initially never thought they could sign the winger last summer.

The only way it was made possible is Marseille having a meltdown after Rowe and Adrien Rabiot had a fight. Instead of trying to calm things down, the hot-heads in charge at the French went int the opposite direction and kicked both out.

That meant reduced fees because all interested parties knew what had happened.

Everton clearly want a winger

In the 2025/26 campaign, Jonathan Rowe contributed to 13 goals in all competitions. The vast majority of those came in the second half of the season and that shows he’s improving.

Everton are clearly in the market for a left winger of his type.

Earlier this week, it was reported in Turkey that the Toffees have offered €35m for Barış Alper Yılmaz. That figure, the same as the reported offer for Rowe, isn’t enough for Galatasaray.
