Cody Gakpo is “open” to joining Tottenham amid strong interest, and though Liverpool insist they will not sale, there is an expectation that stance can change.
Gakpo is a leading target for Tottenham as they seek to strengthen Roberto De Zerbi’s attack with another “bomba” signing.
The London club’s efforts to bring the Dutchman in are now widely reported, with the pursuit expected to advance as Liverpool target Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye.
But while it has been maintained that Liverpool do not wish to sell their No. 18, it is anticipated that this stance could change if other deals work in their favour.
“I would say it definitely opens the door for Cody Gakpo to depart given everything we kind of know at the moment,” journalist David Lynch explained on YouTube.
Lynch added that Liverpool were “open to a sale at the right price,” which he understands as between £60 million and £70 million, with the winger “by no means untouchable.”
“I think we are seeing that come to fruition now because Tottenham are advancing in their interest,” he added.
“The player seems to be open to the move because Tottenham are pushing quite hard now to get that done.”
Tottenham‘s interest in Gakpo is also acknowledged by sources in the 27-year-old’s native Netherlands, which adds weight to suggestions that the player himself is exploring an exit.

Eindhovens Dagblad journalist Rik Elfrink writes on X that Gakpo was “open to it earlier this summer,” with any deal set to benefit his former club PSV Eindhoven.
“Liverpool is not cooperating now (yet),” Elfrink added. “To be continued.”
There are clearly a number of moving parts to consider before Liverpool can sanction a deal for Gakpo, not least their own desire to bring in two new wingers.
Talks are ongoing over PSG’s Barcola and work is underway when it comes to his team-mate Mbaye, and Sky Sports report that Andoni Iraola wants five options out wide this season.

Liverpool tied Gakpo to a new five-year contract last summer which ensures value in talks over a sale – and he could be viewed as one of their most sellable assets.
Iraola is yet to see him in action, with Wednesday being the first day the new head coach was able to work with a player who was granted more time off after the World Cup following his partner’s miscarriage.
But a decision could soon be made on Gakpo’s future, with Tottenham clearly eager to land a deal and seemingly prepared to spend a significant amount to do so.
