Arsenal and Emirates have renewed their long-running partnership, keeping the airline on the shirts, training kit and stadium name until 2033.
Arsenal’s relationship with Emirates will now run until 2033, with the airline remaining as front-of-shirt sponsor, training kit partner and stadium naming-rights holder for at least another seven years.
This latest deal continues a partnership that began back in 2006, covering every season since Arsenal left Highbury for the Emirates Stadium. The partnership between the clubs is already the Premier League’s longest-running front-of-shirt sponsorship, which will now stretch to 27 years by the time the new contract ends.
Emirates stays on the shirts and the stadium keeps its name. Both deals had been set to expire in 2028, so this renewal gives Arsenal some welcome long-term certainty on the commercial front.
The deal is believed to be worth £65 million a year for the next two seasons, rising to £75 million annually, with extra bonuses if the club wins the Premier League or Champions League. These numbers are yet to be confirmed by either Arsenal or Emirates.
The timing says plenty about the Gunners' growing strength, both on the pitch and behind the scenes.
Mikel Arteta’s team head into the new campaign as Premier League champions, and a return to the Champions League has only boosted the club’s profile and commercial value. By tying up the shirt, training kit and stadium deals in one go, Arsenal have locked in one of their biggest partnerships well ahead of schedule.
Chief executive, Richard Garlick, believes last season’s title should become a platform for further progress rather than the end of the club’s recent rise.
Speaking in the official announcement, Garlick said: “Winning the Premier League is an incredibly proud moment in our club’s history and one that belongs to everyone connected with Arsenal. Emirates has been an integral part of this success – standing alongside us throughout this journey and sharing in the defining moments, challenges and successes that have shaped our club over the past two decades.
“Winning the title gives us the opportunity to be more ambitious and build on where we are today. Our renewal reflects a shared belief in Arsenal’s future and a shared determination to keep moving forward.
“The best partnerships, like the best teams, never stand still. Together, we’ll continue to challenge and build on the strong foundations we have built together, with the confidence and ambition that our greatest achievements still lie ahead.”
Since leaving Highbury, the Emirates partnership has become synonymous with Arsenal’s identity.
Emirates first appeared on Arsenal’s shirts when the club moved into its new home in 2006 and they have remained alongside the Gunners ever since.
That long-term faith was rewarded last season when the Emirates name featured on Arsenal’s shirt as the club lifted its first Premier League trophy since 2004.
The partnership has also grown beyond traditional sponsorship through initiatives such as the Emirates Cup and Global Gooners, which gives overseas supporters the chance to visit north London and experience the club at close quarters.
The next chapter begins this weekend when Arsenal host Borussia Dortmund in the Emirates Cup. Arsenal and Emirates will also mark 20 years together with a series of anniversary events and supporter activities.
Emirates Airline president Sir Tim Clark described the arrangement as one that had developed beyond a conventional sponsorship.
“Over the last two decades, Emirates and Arsenal have built something that goes far beyond a traditional partnership, and one we are immensely proud of,” he said.
“We have grown alongside the club through changes of era and ambition, united by a shared goal of bringing people closer to what they love.”
The extension means the Emirates name will remain on the stadium as Arsenal move into their next chapter. The real test now is whether the club can use this commercial stability to help Arteta’s side defend their Premier League title and push on in Europe.
