Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly joined the race for Chelsea full-back Malo Gusto, with fresh reports claiming the Ligue 1 champions have already made contact over a potential move before the summer transfer window closes.
According to The Sun, PSG are monitoring the France international’s situation at Stamford Bridge as uncertainty grows over his long-term future under Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso. The report claims initial contact has been made regarding a possible transfer, although no formal offer has yet been submitted.
Gusto is said to be weighing up his future following Chelsea’s summer recruitment, with the arrival of highly rated Italian full-back Marco Palestra reportedly increasing competition for places.
While Palestra has yet to make a significant impact during pre-season, the report suggests Gusto has become concerned about his role in Alonso’s plans and is open to considering a move away from west London.
The 22-year-old joined CHELSEA from Lyon in 2023 and has developed into one of the club’s most dependable defensive options. Comfortable on either flank but predominantly operating at right-back, Gusto has impressed with his pace, attacking intent and ability to contribute in both defensive and offensive phases.
Despite his performances, Chelsea’s continued investment in young talent has intensified competition across the squad. Alonso has overseen further changes this summer as he looks to mould the team to suit his tactical approach, with several players facing uncertainty over their futures as the club continues to reshape its squad.
PSG’s reported interest comes as the French champions continue to target young, high-potential players capable of strengthening their squad for both domestic and European competition.
Bringing Gusto back to France would fit that recruitment strategy, particularly given his experience in both the Premier League and international football with France.
However, any deal is expected to be far from straightforward. Chelsea are not believed to be actively seeking to sell Gusto, who remains under a long-term contract, and the club would likely demand a substantial fee should they decide to entertain offers.
For now, the speculation remains at an early stage. While The Sun reports that contact has already been established between PSG and the player’s representatives, there has been no official confirmation from either club, and CHELSEA have not publicly indicated that Gusto is available for transfer.
