Mohamed Salah has signed for Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig, with the Liverpool legend's next club now confirmed.
Of interest to various other sides, including Besiktas and Al Ittihad, Salah did have options, but he has selected the team that finished third in its league last year, meaning it will play Europa League soccer this term should it progress through the qualifiers.
In signing for Trabzonspor, the Turkish outfit has committed a huge amount of money to him in terms of his salary. Indeed, he will earn more than anyone else in the league, ahead of Victor Osimhen of Galatasaray.
In addition to collecting a €5.0 million ($5.8 million/£4.3 million) signing-on bonus, Salah is also said to be earning an annual sum of €17.0 million ($19.6 million/£14.6 million).
That works out at around €325K ($375K/£280K) per week, which doesn't sound enormous compared to what he was on at Liverpool, but it is more complicated than that.
On top of that, Salah will also take home 20 per cent of merchandise sales that he is responsible for, according to Yagiz Sabuncuoglu. That could be substantial.
He will also be taxed differently in Turkiye and owns his image rights, meaning that the bottom line on the full package could be worth something similar to what he took home at Anfield.
"It's unbelievable," Salah said at his unveiling on Wednesday, as per WinWin.
"The fans are here now, the reception is incredible, so I'm very happy to be here. I can't express it in words, but the fans here are showing so much love.
"25,000 people are here. I don’t know if you’ve ever seen this at an airport, but it’s a great feeling and shows a lot of love.

"I'm really happy about this, and I’m looking forward to training with the team. Everywhere I go, I always try to win something. I hope we can do something good in the league and in Europe as well."
Liverpool.com says: Regardless of the salary, it was a surprise move for Salah to end up at Trabzonspor, and outside of the Champions League.
Seeing him move to Italy appeared to make more sense, though he would have earned less. Turkish soccer is still a good level, but he will be playing in Europe's second-tier competition, at least in the first 12 months of his two-year deal.
