Aston Villa are reportedly bracing for a fresh approach from Arsenal for Ezri Konsa. The Premier League champions want to recruit the England international to provide cover for William Saliba, who is sidelined with a back injury.
Unai Emery is keen to keep hold of the defender, but Konsa is now entering the final two years of his contract at Villa Park.
While the club are keen to offer Konsa a new deal, his market value could decline after the summer transfer window if he does not commit his future to Villa before the end of August.
The Daily Mail reports that Villa value Konsa at £60 million, with Arsenal’s first proposal for the defender falling well below that figure.
Villa have already lost three key players this summer, with Youri Tielemans and Morgan Rogers departing, while Lucas Digne is set to join Paris Saint-Germain.
The club have recruited Johan Manzambi and Joao Gomes, while also bringing in Alejandro Garnacho on a season-long loan from Chelsea with a conditional obligation to buy.
Meanwhile, Villa have reportedly reached an agreement with Atletico Madrid to sign Matteo Ruggeri. However, the left-back is yet to agree personal terms with Emery’s side after being identified as Digne’s replacement.
A new midfielder, right winger and right-back are also required to further strengthen Emery’s squad during the final weeks of the summer transfer window.
