Fabian Hurzeler said he understands fans' frustration after seeing star striker Danny Welbeck move to Chelsea.
Welbeck, 35, was Brighton's main man in the attack but last week the former Manchester United and Arsenal man signed a two-year deal at Stamford Bridge.
His departure leaves Brighton seeking alternative options, which could see them dip into the transfer market ahead of the new campaign.
Hurzeler though was also quick to stress that existing strikers Charalampos Kostoulas and Georginio will get their chance to shine at the start of the season.
Kostoulas, 19, joined for around £30mm last summer but remains largely untested in the Premier League.
Georginio, a £40m arrival from Leeds in 2024, also struggled to make a impact last term.
Kostoulas and Georginio have big potential
Head coach Hurzeler said: "I understand some of the supporters are frustrated [with Welbeck] because he was our top goalscorer.
"But we have two really good strikers with Georginio, with Kostoulas. Who didn't play that many minutes last season but we have big big potential. Now and it's also a great opportunity for these two.
"We need to develop them in the right way to challenge them now. To also put new demands, it's now your time you have to deliver now. I think that we have to be really clear and strong about them."
Incoming striker?
Despite this, the call to sign is new striker is strong and Hurzeler did not rule out the possibility before the new campaign.
The German added: "On the other side, I think there are always dynamics on a transfer window we have to follow.
"So if there's opportunity where we see a striker might help us then then we might do something."
Welbeck was a proven striker and his level of performance was almost guaranteed for each match. Kostoulas and Goerginio are both talented but delivering that on a consistent basis in the Conference League and Premier League will be a challenge.
Players need time
Hurzeler added: "I help them to get better, I help them have a good start into the season. And if it doesn't work out the first part of the season we shouldn't get in a struggle, we shouldn't get too early too concerned.
“Because these players, they need time and I'm 100 per cent convinced that long term they will pay back.
"Will it be quickly? I don't know.
"In the end they have to deliver. Will they deliver immediately? I hope so. If not, we are there to help them. We are there to support them, we are there to challenge them to get the best."
