Jayden Danns suffered an injury at the start of pre-season which has ruled him out of first-team contention, but the Liverpool striker is now nearing his return.
It was early in Liverpool’s pre-season work at the AXA Training Centre that Danns took another blow, as he aggravated a previous hamstring injury.
He was unable to join Andoni Iraola‘s first-team squad for sessions on Merseyside and was subsequently ruled out of the tour of the United States.
Yet to be involved for the U21s either, Danns is instead stepping up his recovery with an eye on rejoining training later this month.

The Liverpool Echo‘s Ian Doyle reports that a decision will then be made on a potential loan move for a player who has been unable to feature consistently for two seasons now.
Given Danns’ ongoing fitness issues there could be a reluctance for clubs to pursue a deal, though This Is Anfield understands there had been interest in the 20-year-old from sides in Italy.
Liverpool would almost certainly prefer a top-level move for the striker but may need to be realistic and also consider offers from the Championship.
In his absence, Danns saw Lewis Koumas, Will Wright and Josh Sonni-Lambie among those to travel with the first team to Chicago, Nashville and New York.
Another new arrival, 19-year-old Patrik Farkas – who is poised to officially rejoin the club from Blackburn – has filled in as a No. 9 for the U21s this pre-season, including in the 4-3 friendly defeat to Cardiff last weekend.
And though Keyrol Figueroa is expected to depart on loan with Barnsley, Salford and Shrewsbury among the clubs interested, the competition for places highlights a make-or-break scenario for Danns.

The hope is that he can make a full recovery this month before gaining vital experience elsewhere, with it clear he remains in Iraola’s plans.
Iraola remarked on the unfortunate timing of Danns’ injury as he welcomed the first team back to the AXA just under a month ago, having previously watched him in full training with the U21s.
Danns played five times for the senior side after his initial breakthrough under Jurgen Klopp in 2023/24, and while he added four more appearances in the following campaign he saw his progress stunted by injury.
Last season saw him manage just one first-team outing along with four more for the U21s.
