Tottenham Hotspur are continuing to work on a deal for Cody Gakpo this summer despite Liverpool’s hardline stance.
Over the past few days, we have heard that Spurs are stepping up their pursuit of Gakpo and are hoping to begin negotiations with Liverpool soon.
It has been revealed that the Dutchman has signalled a willingness to link up with Roberto De Zerbi, but the main obstacle for the Lilywhites appears to be reaching an agreement with the Reds.
Many reports have continued to suggest that Liverpool simply have no plans to sell the 27-year-old, but their stance is seemingly not deterring the North Londoners.

Tottenham see Cody Gakpo as ‘the missing link’ in their attack
According to Voetbal International, the Netherlands international is ‘increasingly becoming a target’ for Tottenham, who already have three of his international teammates in Micky van de Ven, Xavi Simons and Jan Paul van Hecke.
The report says that De Zerbi and Spurs are ‘dreaming’ of signing Gakpo as they see him as the ‘missing link’ to their attack, who can help them compete with the top teams in the Premier League.
As a result, Tottenham’s interest in the former PSV Eindhoven man is becoming ‘serious’ as De Zerbi continues to push aggressively to assemble the squad he has envisioned.
The website adds, however, that ‘it remains to be seen’ if Gakpo wants to leave Anfield this summer.
Could Liverpool’s Bradley Barcola pursuit unlock Gakpo for Spurs?
It is an open secret that the Merseyside club are looking to make PSG star Bradley Barcola their marquee summer signing ahead of Andoni Iraola’s first season in charge.
Flashscore reported on Tuesday that Liverpool may not sell Gakpo even if they land Barcola, as they wish to build a deep squad capable of challenging on all fronts.
However, if they do end up paying around £150m for the PSG man, one would expect them to soften their stance on the Tottenham target.
