Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has shared his surprise at Mohamed’s transfer to Trabzonspor.
Speaking on the [Football Ramble](https://youtu.be/LPGIvBUj0V0?is=nuFDbH5h4qCfv8n4) podcast, Carragher was speaking on the deal signed by Salah.
Carragher reflected saying, “I never believed he was going to Saudi.” Heading to the Saudi Pro League had been seen as a very viable option for Salah, who had been offered a record-breaking deal from Saudi during the 2024/25 season, when the winger was at the end of his previous contract with Liverpool.
Carragher thought Salah is too good for Turkey stating, “Number one he’s too good for that… I think he could be playing in Serie A… Turkey for me feels like a level too low.”
He later added, “I was convinced he would end up at like an AC Milan or a Juventus, (but) maybe his wages were a problem.”
“I thought he would still want to play at a more prestigious club.”
“His wage demands have obviously put people off but I thought he would have curbed those demands to get a better club.”
“Turkey to me just feels like, I just think he’s better than that.”

Salah has seen a very warm welcome from Trabzonspor fans and will be competing in the Europa League this season.

When I first heard the name Trabszonpor linked I have to admit I was a bit surprised too. The quietness in the media made me think that Salah was waiting for a big offer from somewhere like Saudi or from a big club in Europe to clear some space in their squad through sales to free up budget for a signing like Salah.
