A club statement read: “Real Madrid CF and Vinicius Jr. have agreed to extend the contract of our player, who is now tied to the club until June 30, 2032. Vinicius Jr. has become one of the most important players in one of the most successful periods in our history.”
Vinicius Jr has ended Arsenal’s hopes of signing him after committing his future to Real Madrid. The Gunners had identified the Brazil winger as a top target after winning the Premier League last season, while Liverpool were also linked with a move earlier in the transfer window.
Vinicius Junior joined Real Madrid in July 2018 at the age of 18 and has since become one of the club’s most important players.
In eight seasons with the team, the Brazilian has racked up 375 appearances, scoring 128 goals and winning 14 trophies, including two Champions League titles, three Club World Cups, two UEFA Super Cups, three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and three Spanish Super Cups.
Vinicius played a key role in Real Madrid’s success, scoring in the 2022 and 2024 Champions League finals. His individual honours include The Best FIFA Men’s Player Award 2024, Champions League Player of the Season 2023-24, Intercontinental Cup Golden Ball 2024 and Club World Cup Golden Ball 2022.
He has also been named in the FIFA World XI (2024), FIFA FIFPro World11 (2023 and 2024), and the Champions League Team of the Season on three occasions.
Vinicius returned to Real Madrid on Monday for his first pre-season training session and medical assessment following his World Cup campaign with Brazil.
Speaking to Real Madrid TV on Tuesday after his first training session back with the team, Vinicius said: “(I’m) very well, getting to know the new manager, the new players, and working really hard in training. (Mourinho) wants me to be just as I’ve always been: happy, positive, and playing my own style of football.”
