Arsenal have reportedly expressed an interest in Tottenham captain Cristian Romero, as their search for a centre back continues this summer.
According to The Athletic (£), Inter have already verbally agreed a €40million (£34.2million) fee with Spurs for the Argentina defender but are yet to agree personal terms with the player.
Arsenal are believed to ‘admire’ Romero but Spurs would not consider selling their captain to their north London rivals, leaving Inter and Atletico Madrid as likelier candidates for his signature.
The 28-year-old is likely to leave the club this summer after a poor individual season which attracted criticism for his on-pitch and off-pitch behaviour. Spurs have already signed centre backs Jan Paul van Hecke and Marcos Senesi in an attempt to shure up their horrible defensive record.
The Premier League Champions have already been linked with Ezri Konsa and John Stones as they look to strengthen their defensive options amid a potential long term absence for William Saliba.
